Besides the symphonic music, the a capela choral song is the most
widely represented genre in Petko Stainov’s creative work. He writes
choral songs on texts by the classics of Bulgarian poetry – Peyo
Yavorov, Pencho Slaveykov, Todor Trayanov, Nikola Fournadjiev.
A man of wisdom, with excellent knowledge of folk songs, dances
and instruments, Petko Staynov recreates the folk musical thought
with great professional mastery, while at the same enriching it,
and synthesizing and creating themes for his choral works. He is
the creator of the Bulgarian choral ballad. Many of his remarkable
ballads are constructed on the principles of symphonic polyphony. |
