In 1941, Petko Staynov is elected as a regul;ar member of the Bulgarian
Academy of Sciences. Until the end of his life, he participates
actively in its leadership structures: Member of the Presidium,
Secretary of the Section for Fine Arts, Music and Architecture,
member of the Editorial College of Bulgarian Encyclopedia.
Since 1948, Petko Staynov devotes all his energy to the leadership
of the Institute of Musicology, to the development of the Bulgarian
musicology and to the collection of our national musical folklore:
90 000 songs and 3 000 dances.
